For Pertti “Spede” Pasanen (1930-2001), a great man within Finnish entertainment, Mesopotamia was a place of creativity, where numerous TV sketches and film scripts were born. The most famous of these are the Uuno Turhapuro films and TV series.
Mesopotamia is located in Muonio, between the Pallastunturi and Olostunturi mountains. According to Spede’s wishes, it has been established as a lively meeting spot for everyone, where you can spend unforgettable moments at the birth place of Finnish humor.
At Mesopotamia, there is a cabin made from Kelo, which is wood from pine trees that have died and dried still standing. The cottage includes: a kitchen, three bedrooms, a loft, a bathroom with a shower, as well as a lakeside sauna made from Kelo. At the sauna there is a kitchenette with a fireplace, lights arranged as a starry sky and the northern lights in the sauna; there are also spacious washing and shower facilities, as well as a toilet. There is a hot tub on the front porch of the sauna. From the porch there are stairs leading to a shelter with a fireplace, as well as to a pier from which you can go swimming in Lake Torassippijärvi. There is a patio with a roof on the beach area. The area is well lit and made in good humor.
Mesopotiamia is rented to private individuals and to businesses. You can spend a relaxing holiday there, or organize meetings, weddings, birthdays and recreation days, for example. The premises can accommodate about 15 people and additional accommodation can be found in the nearby area.
